Highland Strength currently hosts two programs geared towards kids and teens: Varsity and Junior Varsity Strength and Conditioning. Both programs currently run in 5 week blocks. Classes are 1 hour and generally run after school or on Saturdays. Varsity classes are geared to athletes 12-15 years of age, while Junior Varsity are geared to athletes 8-11 years of age, but age is just a guideline. Please read about the style of each class and talk to the coach. We want to pick the class where your child will thrive.
The Varsity class consists of conditioning, with more emphasis on technical lifts and weightlifting than the Junior Varsity program. The ages are a guideline, but youth must be at least 12 years of age, or have demonstrated the maturity and fundamental movement abilities to join this class due to the higher volume in weightlifting.
The Junior Varsity class consists of conditioning with skills and an introduction to weightlifting. Ages 8-11 is a guideline. If youth 11 or older would prefer this style of class, that’s no problem!
Athletes aged 15 and over will begin the process of integrating into the adult classes.
Participation in the adult classes is a privilege that is granted to athletes possessing the maturity and technical skills needed. Approval of one of Highland Strength’s Kids Coaches is required before any athlete under the age of 16 participates in an adult class. Certain conditions may apply.
Junior Varsity: Monday May 27th-Monday Jun 24th; 4:30-5:30 pm.
Varsity: Wednesday, May 29th-June 26th; 4:30-5:30 pm.
